Katy Perry :Performance on next week's American Idol

"Firework" Pop Star  Katy Perry lands an upcoming performance on next week's American Idol. Katy Perry will also be joined by Idol's season 7 winner David Cook.

According to USA Today Katy Perry will perform her hit Extraterrestrial (E.T.) while David Cook will perform his new single, The Last Goodbye.

Katy Perry : : Stolen beat from the Mafia

'Teenage Dream' singer said the idea for the song came from her producers "accidentally" playing her a beat they had designed for southern US hip hop group Three 6 Mafia.

She explained: "I remember writing with Max Martin and Dr. Luke, and they were just showing me different samples of songs or tracks or beats, and they accidentally pulled up this beat, and it was for Three 6 Mafia.


"I heard it and I always knew I wanted to write this futuristic, alienistic song, and I was like, 'Wait, I can wrap my head around this. I know this seems like a long shot, but I think I have the perfect material to put on top of this sound.' And I did, and it really worked out perfectly (sic)."

The single version of 'E.T.' which stands for Extra Terrestrial , features rapper Kanye West, and Perry  admits he helped bring out the track's "urban feel".

She added: "It's kind of a bit harder, it does have that urban feel underneath it. I think that's why Kanye added even another layer on top of it.

"And it has amazing sonics - I mean, there's so much to it, there's a lot in the song if you really put your headphones on and sink into the song."

Katy Perry : LIKES "Born This Way" Album

"Fireworks"Singer Katy Perry may have had her quibbles with Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" video, but she sure seems to be a fan of her fellow pop star's new single.

During Lady Gaga's concert at Paris' Le Zenith on Monday (Mar. 7), Katy was captured on camera covering a portion of Gaga's "Born This Way," which is currently enjoying its third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. 

Perry's version was more stripped down than the disco-reviving original, however, as the "Firework" singer was accompanied by two acoustic guitars.

Mtv movie awards: Stars sparkling in show

The carpet at the MTV Movie Awards was bright red and very glittery. Just about every other starlet wore a sequined dress to Sunday night's tribute to the silver screen.

A newly blond Lindsay Lohan gave the carpet some '70s flair in a sparkle-encrusted pantsuit by designer Pamella Roland. Her look was both fashionable and strategic: Wide legs covered the alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet Linds was ordered to wear late last month.

Eva Mendes was all blue, gold, and gorgeous in a glittery one-shoulder frock by Stella McCartney. Shepaired the look with gold-trophy-colored shoes and accessories.

Katy Perry donned a Zuhair Murad dress with strategically placed clusters of sequins that kept her decent. Up top, the future Mrs. Brand rocked Smurfette-blue hair - a tribute to her upcoming role in the animated film.

Vanessa Hudgens lit up the red carpet a subtle splash sparkle. The "High School Musical" star wore a summery white Jenny Packham dress with a constellation of sequins wrapped around the bodice.

Audrina Patridge gave new meaning to the term "Tinseltown" in a shiny silver frock. She paired the look with silver Balenciaga sandals and bangle bracelets.
